Family Quad Tours in Bulgaria — Kids Ride Free, No Licence

Most off-road holidays quietly assume everyone in the group can ride. That rules out families, because the moment one person can't handle a machine on their own, the whole trip stops working. Quads change that, and it's the main reason we added them.

Children ride free, with a parent

A quad carries two. A child rides as a passenger on a parent's machine, and we don't charge for them — we only need to know how many are coming so the right kit is waiting. What a child can't do is drive: the person at the controls has to be at least 16, and 16 and 17-year-olds need a parent's consent.

That single distinction is what makes a family trip possible. Two parents on two quads can bring two children along, and nobody sits the day out at the hotel.

No licence, and no experience either

The quads are 2026 CFMOTO 625s and they're automatic — no gears, no clutch. You get a briefing before the first ride and a guide in front of you all day. You don't need a driving licence of any kind, which is the same rule that applies to our bike trips; if you want the detail on how that works legally, we've written it up on the no-licence page.

In practice the limiting factor isn't skill, it's appetite. Riding days run 80–150 km over five to seven hours, with lunch at a mountain restaurant in the middle. Guides adjust the route to the group rather than the other way round.

Which trip suits a family

Two of our quad trips are built with families in mind.

• Off-Grid Family ATV Adventure — the short one. A few hours on the quads into the forest, a night camping under the stars, and the hotel and SPA either side of it. Priced for the whole group rather than per head: €2000 covers up to four people. If a night in a tent isn't for you, say so and we'll book the hotel instead.
• ATV Mountain Explorer — five days, three of them riding, through forest tracks, river crossings and high passes. The one to pick if the children are older and everyone wants proper saddle time.

What's actually included

The same things as our bike trips, because it's the same operation: return airport transfers from Sofia or Plovdiv, a five-star hotel with a 30 °C indoor mineral pool and spa, every meal, fuel, and guides. You arrive, you ride, you eat, you swim. Nothing gets added at the end.

We ride across three ranges — Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopes — so a longer trip doesn't mean repeating the same valley. Bansko is about two hours from Sofia airport.
